Environment and safety
Nord Terminals meets the requirements of all applicable safety, environmental and professional health legal and administrative acts, together with those of the ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 standards and the ISGOTT (International Safety Guide for Oil Tankers and Terminals) guideline.
Every tank is equipped with an internal floating roof, which reduces evaporation by 95% compared to standard tanks. The tanks are located in a designated area with a waterproof floor and iron concrete walls. In the event of accidental leakage of fuel into the sea, we are able to contain the pollution area with beams. We have the capability for the quick and efficient elimination of spills.
A monitoring station that continuously monitors the quality of outside air was built on our terminals territory. The monitoring station’s automated analysers measure the levels of general hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulfide and meteorological parameters. The readings of the monitoring station are available on the homepage of the Estonian Environmental Research Center (EKUK).
